Gorgeous ride around Lake Perris!

1-22-12: The weather cooperated and cleared up beautifully for our ride around Lake Perris this afternoon. Just check out the pictures in my FB album and you'll see what I'm talking about!

We'll definitely do this again! Everyone had a nice time and enjoy this scenic and tranquil ride around the lake.

4th Sun. (Jan. 22) ride - NEW ride!

1-14-12: This is the first ride that we are doing away from our usual bike path! Venturing out to other locations this year. ;-)

For this ride, will stick fairly close to home: Lake Perris State Park and Rec area, in Moreno Valley. There's a nice bike path that goes around the lake, a bit of a hike-a-bike to get to the dam, and then a nice ride along the dam and back to the parking lot.

Being a state park, don't forget your pass or pay $10/car so car pool if you can. They don't charge people to bike into the park, but there is no parking lots outside of the park and you can't park along the road.

From the map at this link (http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=24004), will try and park at Lot 11 (closest to the Moreno entrance). If that is closed, will keep working our way down till we get to the first open parking lot.

Call me on my cell (909-747-5935) if you can't find us. ;-)

The link above also has directions if you've never been here before.

It's a nice paved bike path that goes around the lake. It says it's 9 miles long, but from what we've measured, it's more like 13 miles from parking lot to parking lot.

Prep time: 12:30 - 1:30 PM

Heading off on the ride: 1:30 PM

Approximate finish time: 2:47 PM (short hike-a-bike section to get to dam)

Looking forward to seeing you there! Hope it's not windy like last time. LOL!

BTW, if you're in MeetUp.org, join TCF there and then you can RSVP so I know if you're attending or not.

1st ride of 2012: WINDY 65!

1-8-12: Whew! The first ride of 2012 was THE windiest I have ever experienced. The news reported winds of up to 65 MPH!

Nevertheless, had a few brave souls who made it all the way to Mt. Rubidoux and back. Check out the pixs and hope to see you at our next ride Jan. 22, 1:30 PM!

Looking at my Endomondo data, some of the splits are telling:

Miles 1-9 (heading to Mt. Rubi) ave. between 4 & 5 min. miles, with one 7 min. mile.
Miles 10 - 15 (heading back) ave. between 8 and 11 min. miles!
Miles 16-18 (after Robin got picked up and trying to catch the other two) ave. 5 min miles.

Total Data: 18.14 miles completed in 2:02 hours. Ave. speed 6:46 min/mile, burned 2080 kcals!

Robin, Ada (red) and Raymond raise their hands in victory as we headed towards Mt. Rubidoux. They laughed at the wind. Little did we know the wind would have the last laugh on the way back!!

Yeah! We made it!!!

Mandy (left) and Sarah (right end) joined us as well.
