Great 1st afternoon ride! Dec schedule...

11-29-11: We had a great weather for our 1st afternoon ride of the season. Saw long-time member Jeanne F. on this ride (she's been riding with us for over 10 years! We did a triathlon together way back in '01 or so, so it was good to see her again.)

Check out our pictures in my Facebook album (you don't need to be in FB to see pixs).

TCF regular Shawndra was there, and a whole bunch of girls and families joined us as well, as you can see in the pictures.

Look forward to more afternoon rides on the 4th Sun. of each month while the weather is cool.

DEC. SCHEDULE

2nd Sun, Dec. 11 - now that it's cooler, several have asked if we could move the AM ride an hour later, so our "meet" time is at 9:00 AM instead of 8:00 AM starting Dec. 11. That'll give some of you an extra hour to sleep in (like my daughter!)

CHANGE to 3rd Sun, Dec. 18, 1:30 PM
- since the 4th Sun. is Christmas Day, I didn't want to compete with that (even though I'm still going to ride that day ;-) I'm moving the scheduled ride to the 3rd Sun. Please note this change!

Hope to see you out there sometime, either for our AM or PM or both rides! ;-) If you're like me, you have plenty of calories to burn off from the holidays.

CU on the bike path soon!

Dr. Ernie
TCF Director

ps. On the "off" scheduled days, I still ride on Sundays on the dirt at Hulda Crooks Park, usually in the AMs, so if you want to join in, just text me for last-minute details (909-747-5935).

Nov. 13 ride is "FREE" for all!; Afternoon ride...

11-10-11: Due to the Mission Inn run and the closure of the Santa Ana River Trail bike path near Mt. Rubidoux (the turnaround point for the half marathon is on the bike path), and because some of us will be running in the Mission Inn run, the organized ride for this Sun. is FREE (i.e. you can ride wherever you want).

Afternoon rides to start Nov. 27!

Now that it's nice and cool, we will begin rides in the afternoon at 1:30 PM so we get done well before sunset.

Now here's the question: should we do afernoon rides on ONE or BOTH of the Sundays while it's cool? I think I can set up a survey for this to the right, so if you see a survey, go ahead and click your preference. If you don't see a survey, e-mail one of the following choices to teamcyclefit@gmail.com:

a. 2nd Sun. AM; 4th Sun. PM
b. Both 2nd and 4th Suns in afternoon
c. Either a or b is fine, I can ride both times

Thanks!

Gorgeous ride!

10-23-11: It was a beautiful day for a ride--perfect temps, no wind. We had the pleasure of having Cyclery USA's GM Jon who joined us and did a few tune-ups. Got to ride with him quite a bit and learned all about his life before Cyclery USA.

Besides the usual regular riders, I let another couple ride my tandem because Elena crashed hard on her mountain bike a few days earlier and was still healing, so we figured that she could ride the tandem and reduce pressure on her right shoulder. Check out the pixs to see how she and her hubby Paul did!

Also had John Choi do another training run for the Mission Inn Half while his wife Nanci rode her mtn. bike (wise choice!). He was running 10 miles, so we were surprised to catch him on the way back. Turns out his knee was hurting as was his hip, so he decided to do the 10K instead! Guess our mantra, "10K is OK" finally sunk in....LOL!!!

Speaking of the Mission Inn Run, it's on Nov. 13, which happens to be the 2nd Sun of the month so a number of us will be running on the SART bike path in that event. In fact, you won't be able to ride all the way to Mt. Rubidoux because the path will be closed for the event (blocked by an ambulance), so you won't be able to go our usual distance. That might be a good day to do your own ride somewhere else like at the beach or mountains!

Enjoy the pictures!

Team Possabilities rides same time!

9-20-11: Hello all! If you've been out lately, you've seen some hand cyclists on the bike path at the same time we are. Well they have now made it official...and have invited us to "join them"! They have a nice big EZ up tent, and it's well-stocked with food, water, etc.!

They park in the back, usually, for more room, so why don't we meet up in back this time so we can be closer to to them and join them?

BTW, this Sun, the 4th Sun. of Sept. (25th), I will be flying back from Portland, OR that AM, so I will NOT be there. All the more reason to join up with Team Possabilities since they have support for their riders.

Robert Sandholm, a good friend of mine, is the leader of that group, and I told him to watch out for TCF riders as well.

So let's start meeting in back with them. They meet at 7:30 AM, and head out on the bike path at 8:00 AM, so don't be late!

Here's their announcement they just sent out:

Join the PossAbilities Handcycle & Bike Rides
now taking place the
2nd & 4th Sunday of each month
@ 7:30 a.m.

We meet in the parking lot at the following location:

Souplantation
228 W. Hospitality Ln. # H
San Bernardino, CA 92408

Riders will leave at 8:00 a.m. on the bike trail in San Bernardino,
head toward Riverside, and return to San Bernardino.
No cars to worry about and you choose the distance you want to ride.
Ride 2 miles, 10 miles, or even 25+ miles….all at your own pace.

Light energy boosting snacks, water, and air tire service will be provided.

It’s great for the entire family!

We welcome able bodied cyclists to join us for support on this ride.

For questions, please contact Robert Sandholm at
(951) 529-8997 or rsandholm@gmail.com.

Cool temps on 9/11

9/11/11 - On this special day, we had cool temps and cloud cover that made it nice for riding. Because I forgot my memory card in my camera, I could only take a few pictures!

Team PossAbilities also ride on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, so we have company!

The Kelly Bros riding larger bikes with skinny tires for the first time--they flew!

Jordan's first time to ride to Mt. Rubi

He's also a model for Kenneth Cole!

Nanci was my stoker while her hubby John ran 10 miles that AM, despite us telling him, "10K is OK!" (Now I have to run a half marathon in Nov. with him...ugh!)

Oct. 9 - Sign up for Riverside Citris ride

9-6-11: Oct. 9 is the 2nd Sun. in Oct., and as I had stated earlier, there is this local ride that is happening that day. So instead of our usual ride on SART, I will be riding in this event.

I said I was going to ride the 49-mile ride, but I haven't really trained for that distance, and I don't care to ride up Central Ave./Allesandro, so I'm going to sign up for the 28-mile ride instead.
For those of you who have been training for the 50, more power to you! I will be riding the tandem most likely (if I can con someone into joining me!) so the 28-mile will be a good ride for us.
I hope that you can join us on this event! I wish we had team t-shirts or something to signify who we are, but maybe next time! LOL!
To get more info or to print out a registration form, go to: http://www.riversideca.gov/citrusclassic/
In the meantime, our next ride is THIS Sun., 9/11! (Whoa, a memorable date). Let's ride in honor of their memories. It may still be hot, so if anyone wants to ride earlier like the last Sun. ride, feel free. I plan to leave right at 8:00 AM from Souplantation parking lot so don't be late!!! Want to beat the heat. ;-)
